Rocky Point Public Affairs is a boutique public affairs firm based in Metro Vancouver specializing in the British Columbia health sector. We help organizations navigate the complex landscape of public policy, stakeholder engagement, and government relations.
Our approach begins with a deep understanding of your objectives within the broader political and policy context. From there, we define clear, achievable goals, craft tailored strategies, support your outreach, and deliver measurable results.
Founder and Principal Steve Vander Wal brings nearly 25 years of experience in health policy, spanning both public and private sectors. He served as a senior political advisor to three British Columbia Ministers of Health before transitioning to the consulting field, where he worked with two of Canada’s leading agencies. Over the past two decades, Steve has advised clients across the non-profit, public, and private sectors.
Our Services
Wherever you are on your public affairs journey—whether planning a strategy, expanding engagements, or managing a crisis—we will provide the guidance and tools to engage effectively.
-
We start by assessing your current position and mapping out a clear path forward. Through research, interviews, and intelligence gathering, we build a comprehensive picture of your operating landscape. The result is a strategic plan with defined objectives, key considerations, an engagement approach, and a tactical roadmap.
-
We develop clear, compelling messaging that motivates decision-makers and influencers. We clarify your "ask," highlight your value proposition, and provide essential background to help audiences understand how your issue fits within the broader context.
-
We help identify, engage, and activate allies who share your objectives. Our team provides coordination for stakeholder outreach and offers strategic and communications support to third parties when needed.
-
We provide full-service government relations support—from identifying key decision-makers and influencers to developing and executing targeted engagement plans.
-
We help develop strategic communications plans that show your issue is on the public radar—leveraging both traditional and social media channels.
