Steve Vander Wal is a seasoned public affairs professional with nearly 25 years of experience in the public and private sectors, with a focus on health policy. His passion is helping organizations develop strategies that achieve goals and improve health care systems and outcomes.

Steve has spent close to 20 years as a public policy consultant at two leading national agencies, helping dozens of clients achieve their objectives. He has held leadership roles including General Manager for British Columbia and National Lead for the Health Public Affairs Practice.

Before transitioning to consulting, Steve served as an advisor to Cabinet Ministers at both the provincial and federal levels for almost nine years.

In British Columbia, he was a senior political advisor to three consecutive Ministers of Health, providing strategic policy advice on issues such as pharmacare, regulation of health professionals, and health technology.

He also spent five years in Ottawa prior to this with the Government of Canada, serving as an advisor to the Senior Political Minister for British Columbia, the Minister of the Environment, and the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.

Steve was a founding member of the Public Affairs Association of Canada’s BC chapter and currently sits on its executive.

He has been active in politics for more than 30 years and has served as a senior campaign strategist for numerous municipal, provincial, and federal campaigns.
